Why Tattoo Deposits Matter: Respecting the Artist’s Time and Creative Energy

When you book a custom tattoo, you're not just reserving a spot in an artist’s schedule — you’re investing in their time, vision, and creative energy. At Visions Tattoo, every design begins with a custom drawing session, often involving 3–6 hours of behind-the-scenes creative work before a single drop of ink touches the skin.

the process

This process is deeply personal. Each piece is tailored to you — no pre-made flash, no shortcuts. A consultation typically takes about an hour, followed by another few hours of the artists personal time refining and drawing a custom design. That’s why a Tattoo deposit is required — not as a gimmick, but because the time, focus, and artistic commitment are real.

The tattoo deposit is non-refundable, and it only covers a fraction of what the tattoo itself will cost. That time could’ve gone into other clients or the artist’s own creative projects.

If you’re unclear on your concept, or still need to “talk to your partner,” it’s best to wait until you’re sure before booking. Constant changes or indecision after the drawing phase are not only unfair — they waste valuable time and energy.

What you can do

Artists are not just service providers — they are creatives with their own voice and vision. Respect the hours of unpaid design work, the emotional energy, and the integrity that goes into each piece.

Here’s what you can do to help:

  • Come prepared with a clear idea

  • Trust the process

  • Communicate openly

  • Value your artist’s time as much as your own

At the end of the day, great tattoos come from great collaboration. Trust, clarity, and commitment are what make custom tattoo work truly special.

🎨 Artists deserve to be paid for their time — and their time deserves to be valued.

Schedule a consultation with Canman or Anthony at Visions Tattoo to begin the process of turning your personal story into a one-of-a-kind work of art.
